Background:	FUS9 is a protein similar to ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2) variant proteins (UEV); lacks catalytic cysteine residue found in ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2. It represses photomorphogenesis and induces skotomorphogenesis in the dark.
